Interview With Dalia Karim

Dalia grew up in a Muslim household and has chosen to wear her hair out rather than wrapped in a Hijab. While she is not the only person in her family to do this, her story is relatable to many others that have also gone through the same hair journey. Her story has to do with my project because if we talk about hair, we have to talk about all aspects of hair. It’s not just about how you chose to wear your hair out, but also if you chose to wear it out in the first place.

Micaela Tompkins On Hair and Professionalism

Micaela was born blonde, but she has had her hair dyed hair dark brown since 6th grade. Every once in a while she’ll dye her hair into a bob or add bangs, and she’s dyed her hair almost any color you can think of. On top of her goofy personality and “out-there” hair choices, she also wants to work in the professional world. I follow her as she dyes her hair and prepares it for the day. I talked to her about it, and she said that she will wait to trim her bangs and dye her hair in order for my to record for the project. I also want to dive deeper into her reasons for keeping her hair dyed her whole life and what brings her to make such wild decisions with her hair. How does this play into her everyday life? What about her professional life now? Will that change in the future?
